Pro and above. By default, listeners switch between the two versions of an A/B player with a two-segment toggle. Pro, Studio and Enterprise accounts (and Studio trials) can instead show a single button that flips to the other version each time it is clicked — the same interaction as a plugin bypass button.
Where to select it: Edit Project → Labels & Behavior → Comparison control → choose Toggle or Single button. You can also set a default for new projects in Settings → Player Defaults → Labels & Defaults. The choice is independent of your Player Layout: every layout (Default, Waveform, Compact, Minimal, Social, Full Width and Video) draws the button in the exact spot its toggle normally occupies, in the same colours, font and corner style.
Button text vs. version names: Your First and Second labels still name the audio versions (e.g. "Dry" and "Wet"). With Single button selected, two optional extra fields appear:
- *Button text while [First] is selected* — e.g. "Add effect"
- *Button text while [Second] is selected* — e.g. "Bypass effect"
This is the text shown on the button while that version is selected; clicking switches to the other version. Leave a field blank and the button reads "Switch to [other version name]".
Starting version: The Default State setting still decides which version plays first — and therefore which button text and colour appear before the first click. The button's colour follows the selected version exactly like the toggle (first = primary colour, second = accent colour), so the label, colour and what you hear always agree.
Good to know:
- Standard (single-audio) players have no comparison control, so the setting does not apply to them.
- Three-version (A/B/C) comparisons keep the A/B/C selector; the single button needs exactly two versions. In a playlist this is decided per track.
- Playlists respect the "Track Transition Toggle Behavior" setting just as they do with the toggle.
- Keyboard: focus the button and press Enter or Space; the T shortcut still switches versions.
- Existing projects and embeds are unchanged until you select Single button and save — no new embed code is needed.
