The quality badge only appears when Fast Streaming is on. What it says tells you where things stand:
- Fast Streaming · Full quality on play — nobody has pressed play yet. This is normal: the full-quality file only starts downloading when someone listens, so pages with your players stay light.
- Fast Streaming · Loading full quality… (or a percentage) — playback has started on the streaming copy and the full-quality file is downloading. On a slow connection this takes longer; playback carries on uninterrupted meanwhile.
- Full Quality — the full-quality file is playing.
- Fast Streaming on its own, with a still dot — the full-quality file couldn't be loaded, so playback continues from the streaming copy.
If you see plain Fast Streaming after pressing play:
- Check that the original files still exist in your Media Library.
- Refresh the page and play again (a network hiccup can cause a one-off failure).
- If it keeps happening, go to the Edit Project page, find the proxy status panel below the Fast Streaming setting, and regenerate the proxy files.
